Primroses and Fritillaries The delicate combination of nodding 'Snake's- heads' and pale primroses is a composition inspired by the early flush of Spring growth and the many banks of primroses that are found along the Devon lanes. Less common in the wild, Fritillaries can be grown in grass that does not completely dry out in Summer. With their delicate and tall stems and foliage, up to 12 inches high, they make attractive partners with the primroses. On closer inspection, the unusual flowers have prominently 'chequered' patterns on the purple and white varieties.
